Advice on router placement

I am building a new home and the electrician is asking where to install the cat 5 or cat 6 cable to connect to the new router.  Where is the best place for that?  Do I need a tech to come out to the site and evaluate? Thank you.

Concern moved here to the Customer Service help section for greater exposure to Comcast corporate employees (The Digital Care Team) for assistance.

Hi there user_4m3vrr, thanks for reaching out over our community forums! The modem in your home would connect to a coax outlet (in most cases) and your router would typically be nearby to connect to it. Without having all the details, I'd advise having the router located in any room of your choice that has a coax outlet installed.

Please let us know if you have more questions or further details about the build that might provide more insight!

Thank you. So far there are no coax cables installed. The electrician feels we can save a lot only putting Cat 5 cables where the router will be. We just don’t know where the best placement would be. It’s a two story house and some opinions are to place it on the first floor to cover the second floor
