Address block for non payment of former tenant

My address is blocked due to non-payment by the former tenant, I lived there previous to this tenant, and after I was notified (after several attempts to talk to customer service) that it was blocked to non-payment. I unfortunately have the same last name as the previous tenants, and the lovely people at xfinity decided to link our accounts together. I was not paying rent at my previous address, so although I have mail at another address I did not have a leasing agreement. So now I'm stuck with finding another internet service, because even though I am a completely different person, I still have to deal with the previous tenants decisions.

I am sorry to hear the trouble you are having setting up an account. If the address has been deemed as non-serviceable, it has been flagged to prevent debt at the location by our collections team. In order for the location to be released, we would need for you to bring in proof of residency (mortgage, lease, utility bill, cell phone bill, credit card statement) to show you are not the one who accrued the debt on the home. Here is a link to find a store near you https://comca.st/3Cyi0JN. The residence will become unlocked and an account can be set up for you.
