Add existing CableCard to StreamTV

I have Xfinity StreamTV.  I also have an old CableCard and HDHomeRun Prime that I used to use with Verizon FIOS.  I tried to add them to my Xfinity account but was told via chat that I'd have to pay a monthly device fee even though I'd in fact being providing all the hardware myself.  Can anybody tell me whether that's correct or whether it is possible to add my existing hardware to my account w/o any additional fees?

Thank you in advance.

Concern moved here to the Customer Service help section for greater exposure to Comcast corporate employees (The Digital Care Team) for assistance.

Good afternoon user_q1i7j2 were you encountering any issues getting them added to the account? Here is some additional information about adding cable cards. I do not believe in some cases a charge would apply where it acts as your own equipment. When you go through adding the equipment, you would be presented with a charge if there were to be one. I did review this document also, about using a cable card instead of a cable box. Please let me know if these help. If you need any additional assistance, please let me know.

I was dealing with a very helpful and nice agent who took all my information regarding the cablecard serial#, etc and was prepared to finalize the activation but then at the last minute presented me with an updated account agreement that showed an extra device fee.  She told me that it was because my current service is internet (through my own cable modem -- not rented from Xfinity) and StreamTV only.  I accepted that as correct (and gave up on activating the cablecard) until I saw some other info in these forums that suggested maybe it wasn't right and that there was some way she could have entered the info differently or maybe overridden the charges that popped up on her end.  I'm just trying to figure out if it's worth giving the chat/activation route another shot or whether it's clear that I'll end up in the same place.

I would be happy to take a further look into this.

... Verizon FIOS ...  extra device fee ... current service is internet ... and StreamTV only ... cablecard ...

If the card was not supplied by Comcast, it's doubtful they'll ever activate it. I'm not sure how much content you'll receive using the Stream app if you don't subscribe to a TV service, but there is no charge for CableCards or for customer-owned equipment that uses them. The Stream app doesn't need or work with CableCards, so you don't need one for that. Perhaps the agent was trying to sign you up for a TV service plan? That would have included a hefty fee for the TV plan, not for the CableCard.
