Hello. Depending on how the connection is set up, would determine if a service visit is required, or if the outlet is active. Does your friend already have service with Xifnity? If "yes", then trying the outlet they want to use with their already installed equipment. If it works, then the outlet is active, if not, then they will need a tech.
