Activate new gateway without Xfinity app

Hello, I'm a new customer and I need to activate my modem. However, I can't download the Xfinity app because it's not compatible with my phone's OS, and apparently my phone is too old to update its OS. I've read in other responses that an agent can activate it for me over the phone. I tried calling the number listed elsewhere on this forum for customer service (1-800-934-6489) but I couldn't navigate the automated system to speak to a real person. Please put me in contact with a real person so I can activate my modem.
