Activate Modem/Router and SmartPhone Scam?

I called for support activating my new Motorola MG7550 Moden/Router. The software didn’t recognize the MAC ID and the online chat person took all my specifications for my MG7550 and got me up and connected. Before we ended our business, he said since I was a long standing customer, they give some people a ‘free’ smartphone and to follow the link he supplied me in the chat room. When I selected the link, the first thing it wanted me to enter was my SSN and birthdate. I texted back and said thank for the help with the modem and NO THANKS to the free smartphone. Nothing legitimate asks for you to enter your SSN unless your the IRS. I thought your customers should be aware of this.

My mistake. The offer was for a Smart Watch not a smart Phone.
