ACP Comcast Bait & Switch

I was coerced into signing up for Comcast under the promise that I was signing up for the ACP federal program. The Comcast representative that set up my account ensured me that I would not need to do anything else and once my bill arrives, the ACP discount will apply and my bill would be completely covered under the Internet Essentials Plan. This was February 2023.

I started seeing bills that I was being charged and there was no discount given. 

Today I reached out to Comcast via chat and the automated prompts gave me instructions how to appropriately get set up for the ACP federal program. The team that set up the chats deserves a huge promotion!

I found out that the original Comcast representative made false promises and never followed thru with getting me appropriately set up for Comcast services that would get the ACP discount. She never even mentioned I would need to go to the National Verifier System. She instructed me to use the Comcast website to verify my eligibility which it failed to do. She then room it upon herself to "handle it on her end". Well, here we are months later, I'm stuck with a bill that I was promised the ACP discount would be applied to.

Comcast chat representatives understood my frustrations and tried to resolve this issue as best they could. Kudos to Pankaj on Comcast customer service chat team and Wilson on Comcast ACP customer service chat team that actually confirmed information for me tonight 5/18/2023 9-9:30pm EST. 


I will be filing a formal complaint with the FCC against Comcast/Xfinity using a bait & switch technique, falsifying information about how the federal ACP discounts are verified and applied, releasing a public website that claims to function and verifies eligibility, and failure to deliver on their original promise 2/17/2023 when I was coerced into agreeing to set up an internet essentials plan Comcast account. 

Thank God I said NO to the Comcast agent on 2/17/2023 when she tried to sell me another promise that the ACP program discount also applies towards mobile services if I signed up for Xfinity Mobile!
