5-year offer plan, after my municipal provider got acquired by Xfinity.

Hello,

I was a happy customer of the San Bruno, CA municipal Internet provider for 10 years, paying $40 per month.

Last year, Xfinity acquired my provider, and I was automatically switched to Xfinity while keeping the same $40 rate.

Now I see the "$40 fixed for 5 years" offer advertised on the Xfinity website, and I'd like to switch to that plan.

Last fall, we barely had Internet for over a month. Xfinity was transferring ownership, and technicians were working on the transition. I worked in networking, so I understand the complexity of such a migration. The advanced support team (once I got access to them) was professional and helpful. With them and the engineers on site, we eventually tracked down the misrouting and fixed it for the neighborhood. Xfinity compensated me for a month of service, and I was able to switch back from my personal mobile Internet to cable.

Despite that experience, I chose to stay with Xfinity.

But now I see my bill estimated at $70 instead of $40 for 300 Mbps, while Xfinity is advertising the same service for $40 with a 5-year price guarantee.

Whom can I talk to about getting the $40 five-year rate?

Most of my neighbors switched to AT&T when our provider was sold. They called me to follow, but I wanted to try Xfinity. I hope they won't have a case of "I told you so."

I'd like to cancel my service, starting today.  Please help me with that.
I tried to schedule a callback,  but I only get Sept 2 as the option.  Today is Aug 27 and I'd like to cancel it today not be be responsible for paying for extra days.

FYI:    Xfinity charged me $5.99 (Agent-assisted payment) when I closed my account in-store. Nobody mentioned it to me there!

So, cancelling over the phone takes 2+ weeks to get a callback (and you're paying for those weeks).

Doing it over chat takes a few days of comms.

Doing it in-store is fast,   but Xfinity slaps you with hidden, unannounced fees there.
