2 Gbps plan + xb8, 2.5 Gbps Port wired speed test never exceeded 1Gbps

Hi,

I've just upgraded to the 2Gib internet plan. I made a wired test by connecting the 2.5 Gbps port, but the download speed was never more than 1 Gbps.

I was testing with a 2.5 Gbps Ethernet card + CAT6 cable, also tried CAT8 cable, but still the same, never exceeded 1 Gbps.

When I got to Existing Customer Deals , it displayed:

xFi Internet

1.2 Gig Plan

Download speeds: up to 2000 Mbps

Upload speeds: up to 250 Mbps

Could you please help me resolve this issue?

Thanks!

Concern moved here to the Customer Service help section for greater exposure to Comcast corporate employees (The Digital Care Team) for assistance.

Hello, @user_r2epa4 Try connecting to Ethernet port#1 on the XB8 gateway. Then test your speed to the gateway using the Xfinity App. Let us know if the results are the same.

Ports 1, 2, and 3 are 1Gbps, so speed testing is impossible to exceeded 1 Gbps, anmd my test results also proved this.

Tricky thing is, today, still with 2.5Gbps port (port #4), I can get 1.2-1.5 Gbps test results now, it looks like the issue has been resolved or say much better than before, I don't know why, I just know the XB8 has been restarted twice before I got to sleep last night.

Since the device running the app is not in the data path for the "speed to the gateway" test, shouldn't the results be the same no matter which port is used? Or even WiFi?

And aren't ports 1, 2, and 3 limited to 940 Mbps or so for a "speed to user device" test?

@BruceW You are right, ports 1, 2, and 3 limited to 940 Mbps, we can only use port 4 for better speed.
