Xfinity Target Scam
Almost got scammed. They texted and called (using [Edited: "Invalid Phone Number"] Orlando, FL) me then left a messaged saying my current promotion is removed. Call them back if I want to keep the discount. So I did call them back. Then verified just my address. After that they were trying to promote the target scam. $900 upfront to get that $15/month for life promotion. The catch is to pay first 5 yrs in advance ($900). They said I will have a free Apple Watch as well and another $75 cash back from Xfinity when paid within 24 hrs. Told me to get Target credit card or target gift cards. I asked if I go for card credit, they said I should go to Target and apply for a credit card but I had to pay a fee for the cc. Then I picked gift card then they told me to buy from Target. Buy 3 gift cards for $300 each. Once I have the gift cards, call billing department @ [Edited: "Invalid Phone Number"] and my confirmation is [Edited: "Personal Information"]. They said they will waive my next month fee ($25). I did receive a real thank you payment confirmation from Xfinity. (Is my account being hacked? How did they pay) After that, I received a text from [Edited: "Invalid Phone Number"] saying thank you for signing up with discount and pay the money by call that billing department.

Received a call from a 903 area code October 16 – 17 2025 with the same Target gift card scam. Except the request was to pay $450 through 2 Target gift cards and then call the (phony) "billing department" at [Edited: "malicious number"] to pay the money and receive 5 years of $25 discounted Internet. Otherwise my plan would increase by $17 a month. Did not do it. However it is disturbing that they were able to access my infinity account while I was on the phone and show me a additional $45 credit to my account, and they knew the bank account I was using for auto pay. Is this a hack, or an inside job, or both? Wrote to infinity asking that they investigate and refer this to law enforcement. Apparently it has been going on for a long time.

It was a 3rd party data breach of a former Xfinity vendor, Xfinity was just fined $1.5 Million for it. Xfinity not taking actions to protect it's affected customers from further exposure to this scam and is not warning its affected customers that their data was stolen.
