Xfinity Bait and Switch
On July 17, 2024 while researching ways to reduce my Xfinity bill, an Xfinity representative initiated a chat with me. After explaining my goal, the representative offered me a package that included cable, internet, wireless, and a free Pixel 8 phone for a total of $190/month including all taxes and fees. In order to receive this offer I would only need to disconnect my landline and commit to a two-year contract. I stated that the phone is seldom used so this would not be a problem. After confirming with the agent that my cable and internet services would remain the same, I agreed.
Within a few days I received the phone. I attempted to set it up using the provided instructions but was unable to fully complete the set-up. Since the phone number assigned to this phone is very seldom used I was in no hurry to set up the phone. I planned to go to my local Xfinity store when time allowed. I have subsequently received bills for both Cable/Internet ($236.90) and Xfinity wireless ($97.36) which far exceeds my previous billing amount. This week I have been involved with several chat sessions, phone discussions with service and billing representatives, and made two visits to an Xfinity store to try to resolve this issue. We did get the phone activated, but in all cases I was either told that the promotional offer was no longer available to me or that the best offer is the $236 plus $32/month for wireless which is still more than I was paying previously.
I have been a long time Xfinity customer and expect Xfinity to honor the agreement that was outlined to me.
