Why did my monthly charge just jump 17%?

I got no explanation or warning that this was about to happen: Comcast just helped itself to more of my money on the auto-payment.

Greetings, @user_y8wsos! I hope your week has been treating you well. Thanks so much for taking a moment out of your busy day to leave a post on our community forum about this billing issue. You have definitely come to the right place for assistance.

Under normal circumstances, the most common reason for a new bill to be higher than the previous month's bill is because a promotion or discount is coming to an end. You can always tell when a promotion is supposed to end by looking at the third page of any past billing statement that was issued at the old, lower rate. There will be a text box on page 3 titled "Regular monthly charges" with a section toward the bottom in green writing, sometimes labeled "Contract Discount", indicating the length of the promotion, amount of the monthly discount, and the exact day that discount will be ending. Here is a link on how to view your bills in PDF format online https://www.xfinity.com/support/articles/viewing-your-bill-online-ecobill.

The great thing is, if you do have a discount that recently expired, or will be expiring soon, we should be able to find you a new discount to replace it. On the other hand, if your discount is still in place for a few more months, but your most recent bill is higher than usual for some other reason, there may be unexpected charges that need to be investigated. Please let me know, and we can go from there. We are here for your support.
