Urgent: Request to Recall Harris & Harris Collection Before Credit Reporting
I have a closed Xfinity account with a final balance of approximately $115 that has been referred to Harris & Harris for collection. The balance is still showing in my Xfinity account/app, and I am ready and willing to pay the full balance directly to Xfinity immediately.
However, Harris & Harris has NOT currently reported this collection to Experian, Equifax, or TransUnion, and I am trying to resolve the balance before that happens.
I have spent a considerable amount of time speaking with Xfinity representatives by phone today and have received multiple contradictory answers regarding what happens after I pay Xfinity directly. I was initially assured that paying Xfinity would prevent Harris & Harris from reporting the account. Later, I was told that Xfinity would notify Harris & Harris of the payment and Harris & Harris would then report the account as paid. Other representatives have provided different answers entirely.
I want to be very clear about what I am asking:
I am not asking whether Harris & Harris will stop collection calls after payment, nor am I asking whether an existing credit-bureau entry will be updated to show a $0 balance. There is currently NO Harris & Harris collection appearing on my credit reports.
I would like Xfinity's Digital Care Team to determine whether Xfinity can formally recall or withdraw the collection placement from Harris & Harris upon my payment of the full $115 balance directly to Xfinity, so that Harris & Harris does not subsequently furnish a new collection account to the credit bureaus after the debt has already been satisfied.
I am prepared to pay Xfinity the full balance immediately. I simply want confirmation regarding what will happen to the currently unreported Harris & Harris collection placement before I submit payment.
Could someone from the Digital Care Team please review my account and determine whether the collection can be recalled/withdrawn from Harris & Harris upon full payment?
I will gladly provide my account information privately to an Xfinity representative. I will not post any personal or account information publicly.
Thank you.
