Updating automatic payment method to Bank account

What is the reasoning behind requiring this? So that Xfinity can have unhindered access to the customer's bank account? I need the discount but do not feel safe doing this. What is wrong with the existing credit card payment method when there have been no problems with it?

Thanks so much for reaching out with your question today! I was not able to find any specific documentation regarding Xfinity's reasoning for difference in the discount for the EFT vs. Credit/Debit automatic payments but the most likely reason for the increased discount for EFT payments is that debit and credit transactions are charged a fee for each transaction where EFT transactions are not, Xfinity is passing that savings along to the customer as well.

No, they are unilaterally raising my price by $5/month unless I comply.

This is very annoying; I don't give my routing information to anyone; there's very little recourse for over-billing or other mistakes.

I am sorry you feel this way. You are still able to use your credit or debit card but you will not get the greater discount you would if you were to use a bank account. Here is a link: https://www.xfinity.com/support/articles/automatic-payment-paperless-billing that will go over Automatic Payments and Paperless Billing Discount.
