Unexpected $25 Modem Charge After Cancellation and Payment Declined Issue
Hello Xfinity Support Team,
I would like to clarify two billing issues with my Xfinity account.
On October 14, 2026, I signed up for a 300 Mbps internet plan because I was told that the monthly cost would be $30 instead of the regular $40.
However, I later found out that the actual monthly price was $40, not $30. Therefore, I canceled the service immediately at the store on the same day and returned the modem. I also received an equipment return receipt.
Despite canceling the service on October 14, I noticed that a $25 modem charge was processed on October 16.
I am currently using a different Xfinity internet plan that costs $30 per month, so I understand the $30 charge for my current service.
However, when I checked my Xfinity account, I noticed that both the $25 and $30 payments were marked as "Payment Declined," with a message asking me to update my payment method.
Both amounts appear to have already been deducted from my Bank of America account.
Could you please clarify the following?
1. Why was I charged $25 for the modem on October 16, even though I canceled the previous service and returned the equipment on October 14?
2. Will the $25 modem charge be refunded? If so, when?
3. Why are both the $25 and $30 payments showing as "Payment Declined" even though the amounts appear to have been deducted from my bank account?
4. Were these payments successfully processed, or are they temporary authorization holds?
5. Do I actually need to update my payment method, or is this a payment processing issue?
I have the equipment return receipt and can provide it privately if necessary.
I would appreciate a clear explanation of these charges and confirmation of the payment status.
Thank you for your assistance.
