Suspected Scam Call Impersonating Xfinity
Dear Xfinity Support,
I received a call from [Edited: "Malicious Phone Number"] claiming to be from Xfinity, offering a 50% discount for 3 years. The caller requested a $540 upfront payment via Target gift card, and promised a reduced monthly rate of $45 starting from the 13th month.
They even made a payment of $85 to my account, which makes the situation more confusing. I suspect this is a scam and want to ensure my account is secure.
Please confirm whether this offer is legitimate and advise on any necessary steps to protect my account.

Hello, user_da43vp. If you've received a phone call claiming to be from Comcast, asking you to purchase gift cards or pay upfront for six months or more in exchange for a 50% discount on your bill; please know you're not alone. This is a known scam, and the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) is actively tracking it.
If this happens to you, you can report it directly to the FTC at:
https://reportfraud.ftc.gov/#/
The FTC also offers a helpful resource page on common scams, it's worth checking out to stay informed and protected.
Additionally, you can report the incident to Comcast/Xfinity here:
https://internetsecurity.xfinity.com/help/alerts
If you’ve already purchased Target gift cards as part of the scam: Call 1 (800) 544-2943 and follow Target’s instructions.
Be sure to keep a copy of the gift card and your store receipt.
Your vigilance can help prevent others from falling victim to these fraudulent schemes. Thank you for helping stop the spread of this kind of fraud.

It was a 3rd party data breach of a former Xfinity vendor, Xfinity was just fined $1.5 Million for it. Xfinity not taking actions to protect it's affected customers from further exposure to this scam and is not warning its affected customers that their data was stolen.
