Speed Increase charge?

My bill has almost doubled due do to a "speed increase" charge. The speed has been great, but if i remember correctly, this increase was 'included' in the gigabit speeds i was/am currently paying for. I'm looking to adjust my plan (life changing stuff is happening atm) and it turns out this "speed increase" has been charging me $61 on top of the actual plan ($76 + rental fees ($14).

I have generally been happy about the service i've been receiving, but a "speed increase" of 200 megabytes for $60 compared to the already $90 im paying for gigabit speed seems wildly excessive. I would consider keeping my current plan if I could opt out of my "included" "speed increase".

Does anyone know how to opt out or cancel? If I were to change plans to a lower speed plan, would i still be recieving a "$61 speed increase"??

Hey there, @MxGundy, thanks for coming to our forum for some clarity on your billing increase. I know those aren't fun to "find", so I can imagine what went through your head when you saw that higher bill. And it probably wasn't positive lol, I'd be in the same boat. You've come to the right place for answers and finding a new package that is more in line with your needs. I hope you're safe and well, and any life changes are nothing too detrimental. In order to help I'll need to review your account. In order to get started can you please send a direct message to Xfinity Support with your full name and full address by clicking the chat icon in the top right? Typically, if you have a package that includes a lower speed tier, with an upgraded speed add-on, you'll see that speed increase charge, so that might be the case. Either way, I'm happy to go over all the options available to you.
