Service Visit Charge

A tech came out for a service visit after I was having issues with my internet and he determined the outside coaxial cable (going underground from my house to the box) and the modem (which I rent from Xfinity) both needed to be replaced.

I've now been charged $100 for the service visit.

Why was I charged so much and should I have been charged at all when it was Xfinity's equipment (cable and modem) that were the issue?
