Sent to Collections

I received a text this morning that my account has been placed for collections. I haven’t been a customer with Xfinity for over two years and cancelled my account in store. I was told by the agent that my account is all set and I wont be charged. I removed the Xfinity app from my phone and haven’t received any contact from Xfinity for two years until the collections notice text today.

I have an $80 balance on my account due to a cancellation charge. Although the agent said I wont have any charges and I feel that I shouldn't have to pay, I am willing to if I can get the collections removed. Will this hurt my credit? It seems ridiculous to not contact me at all via email/phone/text and then directly send it to collections.

user_zhu9ee Thank you for reaching out! You may want to check with the collections' agency that contacted you to verify the debt. There are a lot of bad actors out there that pose as Xfinity/Comcast or other agencies that use phishing tactics to obtain your information. Our Customer Security Assurance Team has a running list of Cybersecurity Alerts
