Sales tax
Recently we purchased two phones from Xfinity Mobile, using an online promotion of $400 off each phone. After receiving detail of the amount paid, we realized we had been charged sales tax on the regular price, rather than the discounted price. We live in Colorado, so I researched Colorado sales tax regulations, and I believe this to be incorrect, per 1 CCR 201-5. This regulation deals with coupons and states that when a retailer (Xfinity Mobile) offers a coupon (which, per other research, does not have to be a physical coupon), sales tax is paid on the amount actually received by the vendor for the item, i.e., the discounted price and NOT the regular price. Apparently, Xfinity thinks that because their records show the monthly charge for the regular price and a monthly credit for the discount of $400, they should charge sales tax on the regular price, but per this regulation, the amount actually paid by the consumer is the amount that sales tax should be charged on. The actual amount paid by the consumer, i.e., what is received by Xfinity Mobile in cash payments, is the discounted price.
Additional research tells the consumer to request a refund of overpaid sales tax from the retailer, and if it is refused, to file a form with the Colorado Department of Revenue.
My question is this: How do I contact the appropriate name/address in Xfinity Mobile to request a refund of the overpaid sales tax?

Good day user_s3a5p5, and thanks or your message! I'm super glad to hear you were able to take advantage of an Xfinity Mobile device promotion we had, and you're in the right place for help with answers 👍 When it comes to our Xfinity Mobile discounted device promotions, rest assured you were not overcharged for the sales tax paid at the time of purchase.
The reason you pay the full sales tax of the device you chose is because any Xfinity Mobile promotion that offers an amount off devices like yours or others, does not take that amount off of the device price itself up front, but rather distributes that credit amount in equal installments over 24-36 months to discount the device payments that add up to the advertised discount amount. This is outlined under the "Pricing and other info" for all offers on our Xfinity Mobile site. Please feel free to check out xfinity.com/mobile/learn/deals for all the details and let me know if you have any additional questions.
