Request for Immediate Review of Account Error, and Resulting Hardship
Dear Comcast/Xfinity Customer Relations,
For some time now, I have been a responsible customer and have consistently paid my bills on time.
Several months ago, I agreed to pay my Comcast Mobile account through automatic payments. I periodically checked the Xfinity app that I was encouraged to use by your customer service rep when I signed up for your plan for my new cell phone that was supposed to be free (with a small monthly upcharge) under a special promotion.
I had every reason to believe that my account was current and that all services and device payments associated with my name were being properly managed.
Recently, I noticed irregularities when reviewing my account. I could not find charges related to my Apple iPad, and I also discovered that my personal phone number was not listed on the account.
When I contacted Xfinity on Saturday, Sept. 5th, I was informed for the first time that a second account existed in my name.
According to your representatives, this second account contained my personal phone number, my Apple iPad, and my iPhone payment agreement. I was shocked to learn of its existence because I had never knowingly maintained two separate accounts, nor was I aware that these devices and services had been assigned to a different account than the one I had been actively monitoring and faithfully paying.
Had I known a second account existed, I would have addressed any outstanding balance immediately. Instead, because I was unaware of the account, it became delinquent without my knowledge.
As a result, I have now suffered serious consequences:
- My mobile service was canceled.
- I lost access to my personal phone number, which I understand can no longer be recovered.
- My account is showing an overdue balance.
- My credit standing is at risk of being negatively impacted.
- I have spent countless hours attempting to understand and resolve a situation that I did not create and was not aware existed.
The loss of my personal phone number has created substantial hardship. That number was connected to my personal contacts, financial institutions, online accounts, security verifications, medical providers, and other important services. Losing it has caused disruption, inconvenience, and stress that cannot easily be measured.
I feel that I have been unfairly placed in this position. I acted in good faith by maintaining automatic payments and monitoring the account I knew about. The existence of a second account, which allegedly contained essential services and financial obligations, was never clearly communicated to me in a manner that would have allowed me to manage it appropriately.
Therefore, I respectfully request that Comcast/Xfinity:
- Conduct a full investigation into how and why this second account was created and maintained.
- Provide documentation showing when the account was established and by whom it was authorized.
- Review all billing, payment, and collection activity associated with both accounts.
- Prevent or remove any negative credit reporting resulting from this matter while it is under review.
- Consider appropriate remedies for the loss of my phone number and the hardships caused by this situation.
- Provide a written response detailing your findings and any corrective actions being taken.
I am not attempting to avoid my obligations. I am simply asking for a fair review of the circumstances. I believe no customer should suffer the loss of service, the loss of a long-held phone number, collection activity, and potential credit damage because of an account they did not know existed.
I would like to make the payments for the iPad monthly just as I contracted.
I respectfully request that this matter be escalated to Executive Customer Relations for prompt review and resolution.
Thank you for your time and attention. I look forward to your response.
Sincerely,

I i have been a loyal xfinity customer for nearly five years now. I have just recently it started using this community platform. I have found this option to be particularly useful and informative with regard to the types of issues that other xfinity customers have experienced. I have read your post and I i am truly shock and disturbed. What has occurred in your circumstances should have never happened. Xfinity has made continuous
Promises to their customers by offering the type of security and protection that
is necessarys, particularly now when there has been a rise in fraudulent scams that have affected many xfinity customers including myself! I will not get into details regarding the specific type of scams that I have encountered. I can only assure you that xfinity Comcast has been the target of scammers who are using the so called phishing techniques to scam unbeknownst xfinity customers.
It seems that after reading your post, the obvious conclusion is that someone was able to gain access to your xfinity account information, as well as other pertinent personal credentials. As previously mentioned, a similar situation had occurred to me about two years ago, and I had to go through all kinds of aggravation, and countless hours trying to resolve the problem. Fortunately, my bank, which was associated with my debit card and checking account, was able to prevent any type of further potential financial damages that may have occurred. As soon as I had reported, unauthorized charges that were made using my debit card number, my bank immediately froze my account. There were actually 2 incidents that occurred in which illegal transactions were attempted, one successful and the other was not. However, i was left in a situation without any access to both of my debit cards for about a month, until I was able to receive new account numbers and new debit cards. After reading your post I would like to make a comment regarding what I believe would be a solution
To prevent these types of scams from occurring in the future. The problem stems from the fact that infinity mobile phone customers are forced to make online payments, if they choose to have xfinity, mobile services. I am both an xfinity mobile service as well as home internet service customer. I would just like to point out and clarify one specific point of importance. With regard to my home internet service i had the option to pay my bill using the xfinity kiosk, or any xfinity, store representative may accept cash or card payments in person at any time when paying my bill for my home internet. Herein lies the problem. If we as xfinity, customers had the option to pay our xfinity bill payments. As mentioned above, as opposed to making automatic online payments, there would be no possibility of ever being scammed or finding yourself in the situation that you have currently experienced! I believe that xfinity customer service and the corporate officials affiliated with xfinity should consider making changes with their payment policies. Otherwise, it would stand to reason that there will be many potential lawsuits and legal consequences that could cost xfinity
Comcast corporation huge monetary punitive sanctions, as well as financial compensation to anyone who has been scammed. I am very well versed in the law, and legal matters when it comes to understanding class action lawsuits. Perhaps this would be something that you may want to consider, because after reading your post, it is clearly evident that you have a very solid case to win a very large financial compensation once the lawsuit has been settled in federal court.
I would like to wish you the best of luck. And I will be keeping an eye on any future post in this community forum platform.
