Request for Forbearance

I am requesting forbearance, or similar debt relief, for the amount due on my account(s).  I retired from the Federal government after 60 years of military and civilian service on December 31, 2025.  As detailed in the attached redacted letter to the Office of Personnel Management (OPM), I have tried unsuccessfully since the beginning of the year to get OPM to remedy the situation.  They are apparently unable or unwilling to do so.

OPM has documented that a ~$276,000 receivable is due to me as part of the lump sum adjustment payment that is made once OPM completes processing my retirement application.  That adjustment payment will include additional pension payments retroactive to January 1, 2026.  Once that adjustment payment is directly deposited into my account, my intention is to retire all debts and bring my accounts current.

OPM has not responded to the attached letter, and they do not make firm commitments as to when certain actions will be completed.  My adjustment payment could be as early as August 1, but it could be a month or two later in the year.  So, my request for whatever relief you can provide is for as long as possible, but at least until the end of the Government fiscal year on September 30, if possible.

Thank you for your consideration of my request.
