Remove Collection from Credit Report

I transferred services to a new address December 2022.  Xfinity generated a bill and sent to the address that I moved from.  The bill was then sent to collections when it wasn't paid because I never got it even though I have services at the new address transferred to.  Why was billing not transferred?  Why not call me about past due balance if there was one at old address?  A representative from Xfinity stated the normal process is to interrupted services at new address if there is an outstanding balance.   I work hard to try to build and maintain my credit. Did you put a change of address in with the postal service so that your mail could be forwarded to the new address?

I changed my address with all the creditors directly including XFINITY which I thought was done when I transferred my services to new address.  Why did XFINITY generate a bill to old address when clearly I was moving my service?  Why was normal protocol( as stated by every XFINITY representative I spoke to) not followed and my balance transferred to new account?  Why not call about past due balance?  It doesn't make any sense.  If I had known about the bill I would have paid it and If I didn't pay it XFINITY would shut my current services off until I paid it.  Clearly none of that was followed and I don't understand why.

I can't answer your questions, but putting a change of address in with the postal service is the much better option.  Changing an address with a creditor doesn't necessary guarantee that mail will be delivered to your new address.  In many cases all it does is update where the service is being delivered.
