Regional Sports Fee

Why are you charging almost $18.00 for regional sports fee and you keep removing local sports channels? To get the local channels you want us to signup for a higher plan so we pay more. I think this is just a scam. I will be looking at my other options and will be leaving Xfinity after about 35 yrs.

Hello, @penn21 thank you! I really appreciate you being a member of the Comcast Family! The Regional Sports Network Fee is an itemized charge that you'll see on your bill. These charges are not government-mandated fees and will increase from time to time. The fee is based on our costs to provide either the local broadcast stations or the regional sports networks that we carry on our cable systems in each region. These costs include the fees that the sports networks charge us to carry them on our cable systems, which are among our largest increasing costs. These fees are not included as a part of our promotional pricing or pricing under your minimum-term agreement and can increase during your promotion or minimum-term; however, you'll receive advance notice before an increase takes effect.

If you'd like to shop for a plan that would lower your cost and cover the increase to the Regional Sports Fee send our team a direct message with your full name and full address? To send a direct message:

  1. In the top right corner, you'll see a little chat icon near the bell icon. Click the direct message icon
  2. Click the "New message" (pencil and paper) icon
  3. In the 'To' line, type "Xfinity Support" there. A drop-down list appears. Select "Xfinity Support" from that list (an "Xfinity Support" graphic replaces the "To:" line)
  4. Type your message in the text area near the bottom of the window
  5. Press Enter to send it. An official employee, such as myself or whoever is first available, will respond. Thanks!

@XfinityThomasC First you cut Pittsburgh sports network.  Then you cut MASN for Baltimore. So if the fees are for the networks then why cut them? The only way to get them is to move to a higher price plan. What a [Edited: "Language"] scam. You are absolutely going to lose a customer

We consider many options based on our customers' diverse interests and offer a wide variety of quality channels that everyone enjoys. We have to pay for almost every channel we carry, including new networks that launch, so we're careful about adding channels that could increase customers’ bills due to the fees charged by the owners of the channels. We try to make agreements that give our customers the content they want at a price that is reasonable. In most cases we have made a number of reasonable offers that (NETWORK) has not accepted. As a result, we can no longer offer (NETWORK) programming at this time.

The only plans cost more. How is that reasonable. We get 125 channels. We are lucky to watch around 20 of them.  The rest are not worth watching but we still have to pay for them. You need a Ala carter option for your customers

Here is a link to the channel lineups we have available, https://www.xfinity.com/learn/channel-lineup-bundles?linkId=73538873. There are also non cable options to consider like our Xumo Stream Box https://www.xfinity.com/learn/xumostreambox which may offer a more tailored sports option. We can review avialable promotions that may lower your cost.

I think that the Regional Sports Fee (now $19.20 in Chicago) is going to be the straw that breaks the camel's back for me.  I know that overall it's less than 10% of my bill but to have an itemized charge that we absolutely don't watch is galling -- and I anticipate it is about to get worse.

This fall, the Chicago Bulls, Blackhawks and White Sox are creating their own channel.  The Cubs already have their own channel called Marquee.  I would not be surprised to see the the sports fee hit $25.

Just because people live in a particular metro area does not mean they follow the local teams or care.  Millions of people have moved around the country and follow whatever teams they want.  That's why there is the NHL package, the NBA package, the MLB package.  And we have bought those packages for baseball and hockey.

And most of this money is going straight through to the horrible owners of these teams, not Comcast.

Why are we charged $16+ for regional sports when you've cut Bally sports and there's basically NO regional sports available.   we've been promised you are going to adjust the bill but you're just ignoring that and charging us. Are you serious !!? waiting  to see how many people complain and then you'll be forced to actually do something adjust/  not charge a regional sports fee. This is terrible policy/customer service.  As usual

@user_s12w1p   I’m in a similar situation in Georgia.  $13.50 regional sports charge.  Lost Bally on my plan.  Being “credited” $9.25, so being overcharged $4.25 a month.  Spent a glorious 32 minutes with a foreign representative attempting to get this $13.50 charge permanently removed.  She said she was only able to give the credit for my current bill, which she did.  Are you, Comcast, going to remove this [Edited: Language] charge for services I do not receive, or are you going to wait until a class action suit is filed?
