user_wfn5cp Hi there! Thanks for taking the time to reach out to us today. The Broadcast tv fee and regional sports fee are mandatory for all TV customers.

The Broadcast TV Fee is an itemized charge, based on our costs of providing the local broadcast stations we carry on our cable systems in each area. These costs include fees that broadcast stations charge us to carry them on our cable systems, fees which are among the fastest growing components of our programming costs.

The Regional Sports fee is an itemized charge based on our costs of providing regional sports networks. Costs include fees that Regional Sports Networks charge us to carry them on our cable systems.

We hope this information is helpful. Please let us know if you have additional questions. Our awesome team is here to help!

Regional sports fees for the regional sports channels we don't get anymore! Seems fair.

If I pick a package that doesn't have sports, such as Choice TV, can't I avoid the Sports fee?

Choice TV gives customers access to affordable live TV, including sports, local news, and top network shows, along with all the benefits of X1, including voice control and integrated apps like YouTube, Netflix, and Amazon Prime Video.

Choice TV replaced Instant TV and Internet Plus.

You can choose other options like Xfinity NOWTV that has a flat fee per month. You can learn more at xfinity.com/nowtv

This “Regional Sports Fee”, is one of the reasons cable customers are cutting the cord.

My wife and I do not watch Regional Sports. It annoys me that I have to subsidize the real cost of watching sports for sports fans. If they like sports so much, they should pay for the full cost. I don’t see Comcast levying a “Quality Film Fee” on sports fans who don’t watch movies! I’d rather spend my $14 on Brit Box.

This is essentially corporate sponsored socialism for sports fans to force me to pay for their content.

Hello, @Netmammal! Thanks for leaving a comment with your shared concerns. Since you not only mentioned not watching sports, but watching streaming services, too, it may be time to review your account for changes! A lot of customers have moved from Video (cable) service to streaming-only, which we accomodate as well - as seen here, with our Xumo option. Don't forget, you can also use our Plan Builder to check out all your options and ways to lower the bill going forward. Please let me know if this helps! You can also create your own post to get started if you have any additional questions or concerns. Thank you!

@XfinitySara (or any other @Xfinity Support rep) is there any way in which the channels with exclusive rights to broadcast certain teams' games (e.g. watching a Denver Avalanche or Denver Nuggets game in the Denver area is exclusively available through Altitude Sports) could be made available using money collected with the Regional Sports Fee?  It doesn't seem fair to Xfinity to be paying the channels for sports they no longer broadcast, nor fair to your customers that have to absorb that cost when the regional sports are absent.  Streaming does not get around those types of blackout agreements.  I rarely watch sports at all, so it's not worth a package that's $70+ every month, especially when it still doesn't include those channels, but even a PPV option would be appreciated.

@cputrdoc Thank you for your question! Every market's Regional Sports Fee is based on the regional sports in that channel lineup. As networks are added, dropped, or renegotiated, the Regional Sports Fee will change. We are constantly reviewing our lineups and channel popularity to make sure we have the best options at the right price.
