Random collection

I moved from Tallahassee to fort myers. My brother took over my apartment, so I kept the wifi there and added my new one to the same account. When he moved away from Tallahassee in July 2020, I cancelled my account in Tallahassee leaving only fort myers. The person I spoke to assured me that all my balances were paid off. I could no longer log into the account and assumed I was good with just my one account. I received a collection on my credit dropping it 50 points. I called xfinity and the rep told me there were 0 amounts pending or overdue in my name for either account. I tried to dispute the charges, but nothing is working. I’m very upset I can’t pay and this is affecting the closing of our home. Can anyone explain or help?

This collection showed up last week* and my old outdated email that I changed from also states it’s billed from November 2020, while the collection is from October?

We just recently purchased our home, and we were also very careful before closing with our finances and our credit.
