Questions About Switching from AT&T to Xfinity Mobile

Hi, I'm an existing Xfinity Internet customer, and I'm considering transferring my AT&T phone number to Xfinity Mobile Select.

I'm currently using AT&T Unlimited Starter SL and paying about $65 per month including taxes. I'm happy with its coverage in the US and especially its international roaming performance. I'd be interested in switching to Xfinity if I can get a similar experience at a lower price.

Before switching, I have a few important concerns:

1. Coverage in the US

I live in Seattle and normally use around 20–25GB of mobile data and less than 5GB of hotspot data each month. Can I expect comparable 5G coverage, speeds, and reliability to AT&T? Is there any way to test Xfinity Mobile before transferring my existing number?

2. International roaming performance

I travel internationally up to three times a year. AT&T's international roaming has worked very well for me, and I want a similarly smooth experience without frequent buffering or connection issues.

I understand Mobile Select includes 10GB of high-speed international data per billing cycle, followed by speeds of up to 14 Mbps. Is that correct? Does it support 4G/5G roaming in countries such as Japan, Canada, and China? Can I manually switch roaming networks if one is slow?

3. Receiving SMS in China

This is particularly important to me. I sometimes stay in China for up to four consecutive months during summer break. I use a separate Chinese SIM for mobile data, so I only need my US number to stay active and receive SMS verification codes from US banks and other services.

Will I be able to receive these messages throughout a four-month stay without additional charges? Could my service be restricted for excessive international roaming even if I'm not using mobile data on the Xfinity line? Is there a specific roaming setting I need to enable?

4. Final pricing

As an existing Xfinity Internet customer who has never used Xfinity Mobile, would I qualify for the free Mobile Select line for 12 months, followed by $30/month plus taxes?

Could you confirm the estimated total monthly taxes and fees, any activation charges, and whether I can keep my current home internet plan and transfer my existing phone number without interruption?

If all of these requirements can be met, I'd be happy to switch from AT&T.

Thank you for helping me confirm these details.
