Possible target credit card/gift card scam

Question

I received a call from someone that said they were xfinity about a price increase and offered a deal for 24 of less payments. I was instructed to get a target store credit or gift card to make payments. While talking I received an email from xfinity thanking for a$55 payment from a bank account not mine.

If you have gotten a call claiming to be from Comcast asking you to buy gift cards or paying upfront for six months or more in exchange for 50% off your bill the FTC is well aware of this scam.  If you get a call like this you can report it to:     https://reportfraud.ftc.gov/#/The FTC also has a great webpage on Scams.
