Paying for equipment on a bill

Silly question, I’m sure but still curious. Does anyone know if you pay the fee/charge for equipment? For me it was a bit over $100? Does this now mean the equipment is mine?

@user_f5wno6 We charge a monthly fee for our equipment but if a charge was $100 it sounds like you have unreturned equipment that was never returned. Can you please direct message me your full name and address to begin?

Here's the detailed steps to direct message us:

  • Click "Sign In" if necessary
  • Click the "Direct Message” icon (upper right corner of this page)
  • Click the "New message" (pencil and paper) icon
  • Type "Xfinity Support" in the to line and select "Xfinity Support" from the drop-down list
  • Type your message in the text area near the bottom of the window

• Press Enter to send your message

Okay? But that doesn’t really answer said question? I already paid off the bill in full. Is the equipment return charge mean I bought the equipment now?

Or simply on top of the said charge I also still need to return the equipment?

@user_f5wno6  If we charge an unreturned equipment charge the fee will cover the cost of the equipment and in a sense, yes, you bought it. If you still have it you can return it to get that charge reversed. You can choose to keep it if you did still have it but you wouldn't be able to sell it to anyone because it wouldn't be able to get added to anyone else's account. I hope that this helps!

Actually yes in a sense it does, thank you.

I do have a follow up question, if that’s okay. Since that’s the case, and I technically own it, would I be able to drop the rental fee if I resume using Xfinity as a source of internet?

@user_f5wno6 No, if you were to resume services then the equipment charge would be reversed and you'd be back to renting the equipment. If you want to purchase equipment you're free to use this link to see what modems we support for owned modems but at this time no Xfinity internet equipment is available for purchase.

Alright! Well thank you for your help and knowledge. Looking around though the app and online no one really had an answer let alone where to actually answer said questions.

so I really do appreciate everything. Thank you and have a good rest of your evening~

Hello, @user_eb1jb7. I'd like to thank you for making us aware that you're being charged for a rental fee even after using your own equipment on Forums. I would love the opportunity to review your account to see what's causing this fee to be added to your bill.

In order to get started, can you please send me a private message to Xfinity Support with your full name and full address by clicking the chat icon in the top right?
