Online Payment Failure

After several attempts to make my payment online always receiving this error message: "Exception Occurred while processing request in CyberSource"

Called customer service and reached billing associate with amazing ease. Then was hit with marketing offers to change my plan. Did not remain on the line to listen to lengthy recording of legal disclaimers about offered plan.

My solution. Turn off paperless billing. Xfinity can now go back to printing bills and processing paper checks.

My question, was this a legitimate error or just a scam to get me to call Xfinity? And, if it was legitimate, what caused it.?
