New service after bankruptcy

Hello,

I filed bankruptcy on an unpaid balance with Xfinity back in 2017. I'm trying to start service now, 5 years later, and am being told I need to pay back balance first. Is this correct? It was included in bankruptcy.

Thanks for your time

Hello @user_c660d6 That's an excellent question. I do suggest that you contact your bankruptcy lawyer to verify if your Xfinity account was actually covered under the bankruptcy. You may be responsible for the debt if you reach back out to Xfinity. This is called reaffirming a debt.

Hello,

I just checked my bankruptcy filing, and Xfinity was included. Next step?

Thanks

@user_c660d6 You should always be able to contact your lawyer to see why there is still a balance showing. I can take a look at your past account for you to gather more details, but I would be hesitant to do so. I wouldn't want to take the chance of reaffirming the debt. For me to look into this for you, we would need to take this conversation private. We don't want your personal information out there for the public to see. To send a "Peer to peer" ("Private") message:

Click "Sign In" if necessary

• Click the "Peer to peer chat" icon

• Click the "New message" (pencil and paper) icon

• Type "Xfinity Support" in the "To:" line and select "Xfinity Support" from the drop-down list which appears. The "Xfinity Support" graphic replaces the "To:" line

• Type your message in the text area near the bottom of the window

• Press Enter to send it

I no longer work for Comcast.

I am having a similar problem.  They are trying to force me to pay a balance i've included in my bankruptcy!!! My lawyer's office sent them all the information they needed, but they are still trying to extort money from me.  It's illegal to collect a debt protected under bankruptcy!!!!! Hello, @user_fe5147. Thanks for taking the time out of your day to reach out about the charges. We have a ticket we can put in to help with this. It will ask you for some information from your bankruptcy. If everything is good, the charges would be waived. Please send us a direct chat message with your full name and complete service address to “Xfinity Support”. To do so, click on the chat icon located at the top right of this forums page.

Here's the detailed steps to direct message us:
• Click "Sign In" if necessary
• Click the "Direct Message” icon (upper right corner of this page)
• Click the "New message" (pencil and paper) icon
• Type "Xfinity Support" in the to line and select "Xfinity Support" from the drop-down list
• Type your message in the text area near the bottom of the window
• Press Enter to send your message

Once u file it under a chapter 13 you have to make it clear to both your attorney and xfinity that you do want to keep the service other wise they won’t restore the service and add it as a collection debt.
