Moving Service Technician Fee

I've been an xfinity customer for several years and have moved service before.

I will be moving next week but im trying to understand why this $39.99 technician fee is required.

I saw a different post that stated "The main reason I come across most often is that the new location hasn't had Xfinity services within the past 6-12 months or the tap isn't active due to no services at location therefore the self installation is most likely to fail. I would be happy to take a look."

Can I chat with someone directly to understand this new required fee? I did not have to pay anything last time I moved; this feels like corporate greed tacking on yet another cost when we're already spending so much on the move itself.

Shame on you xfinity for continuing to take advantage of your customers when there are limited internet providers in certain areas.

Katstigs, thank you so much for reaching out about your move and the $39.99 fee. I can understand why you would ask if you haven't come across it before and appreciate you asking. This would be our Self Install Plus option and has been around since 2024, but is limited to locations where there has not been service for some time, and we have disconnected the tap that provides service to avoid signal issues for the users around the location. Normally, an installation fee would be $100.00 if your self-installation has any issues. The $39.99 fee would cover the tap being reconnected and up to 4 outlets being activated/inspected inside the home to make sure they are in working order. They will bring equipment with them as well to make sure you have the appropriate setup and help you with Xfinity app activations. In the past, you would have only had the option for the $100.00 pro installation, so this is a great deal in terms of installation costs!
