Moving Fee

I’m having a hard time understanding this.

We are simply moving within the same community. As your commercials say, you’re supposed to “make moving a breeze.” My plan was to take my modem with me and complete a self-install at the new address.

The new address already has service available; it just isn’t currently active. Despite that, I’m being told I have to pay a $39.99 fee simply to activate service at the new location. Two different representatives have told me the same thing: if I want service turned on at the new address, I must pay this extortion fee or I get service elsewhere.

I don’t understand why existing customers are charged an additional $39.99 just to transfer service to another address, especially when no technician visit is required in the home and I’m performing the installation myself. It feels less like a service fee and more like an unnecessary charge imposed on customers who are already staying with your company.

Concern moved here to the Billing help section for greater exposure to Comcast corporate employees (The Digital Care Team) for assistance.

user_css12 Thank you for reaching out! The $39.99 fee mentioned is related to the Self Install Plus option. Self Install Plus is an installation option where a technician checks up to four existing outlets in a customer's home, while the customer installs and activates their devices independently. It costs $39.99 and is available for Xfinity Internet, TV, and Voice services. Customers are ineligible if they have never had Xfinity service to the location, order Xfinity Home, or request additional wiring. If the self-installation fails, troubleshooting is available, and a professional installation fee up to $100.00 may apply if a technician visit is needed within 30 days.

Self Install Plus is not optional, it is a required installation method when a customer's cable tap needs to be made hot due to no outside connection to the home.
