Is it possible to downgrade to a plan that excludes TV?

Hi there,

My Xfinity bill has been creeping up over the last 3 years. It was decided we would have TV back when I had roomates 2 years ago, but I haven't watched it at all since. I called a while back and was told TV was included for free (horay! but there's a $15 TV fee and a $5 TV box rental every month...). When I look on other plans, there's no plans which exlude TV.

When I look at the plans they'd offer at my place if I wasn't an exisitng customer, there are internet only plans which A) have much faster internet (I'm currently on the lowest internet tier) and B) are a fraction of the cost. I understand some of these are >1 year contracts but it'd still like the flexibility of choosing what I actually want if Xfinity offers it (faster internet, no TV).

Is there anyone that has any experience similar mine and got it resolved in a satisfactory way?

Hi @mingles

It is definitely possible, but they will of course make it as hard as they can, since they know that once they lose a TV customer, they will likely never get them back. I had a similar situation few years ago, with TV and Internet, when I was originally told TV was included for free (basic SD package at that time, that I never actually used). At some point I called and asked to cancel it, and they were fighting it back with everything they had, but I persisted, and they canceled, and lowered my bill! So removing a "free"service  did in fact lower my bill by around $20. I don't have good advice on how to make it happen, just have to call them and don't take no for an answer.

Thanks @drumn_bass ! Glad to hear you managed to get rid of TV!

I actually relented and called them up again expecting to have the same conversation as I've had 2-3 times before. I called their billing customer service ((800) 934-6489 for anyone with same problem), they actually fulfilled my request to drop TV and put me on a "Performance Xfinity Internet Package". This more than halved my bill and gets rid of all those little obnoxious service fees and I'm guaranteed to have this price for 2 years.
