I am getting the message "You'll need to make a payment in person" when trying to pay online

I would like some help since the online chat did not help with this. They said someone would look into my account but that was more than 3 weeks ago.

user_lbvgfw, thank you for reaching out and creating a new post. I understand that you've been attempting to make payments online, but you get a message stating you need to pay in person. I see you have reached out already; however, you haven't heard any updates. I can certainly see how this sudden change would be confusing and concerning. Does this occur on both our website and the Xfinity App? Have you tried different browsers as a test? If you use the phone automated system to make a payment, does it also direct you to pay in person?

I have tried 3 different browsers, cleared cache and tried incognito mode. None of these helped.

Thank you for giving that a try. Do you have the Xfinity app? I invite you to donwload it to your mobile device if you don't have it already https://www.xfinity.com/apps. What happens when you give it a try on the app?

Yes I tried the app, it does the same thing. Can I get this problem escalated to someone that can actually fix my account and not some online chat that will lie about getting it fixed and try to force a mobile line on me instead?

@user_lbvgfw I'm sorry if that was a previous experience. Do not worry we can help here by checking your account directly. Sometimes, this can happen is a payment was recently returned and that can happen for many reasons other than available funds like if you received a new card that may have a new CVV and Expiration date, if a number is off on your information among other. Can you please send us a direct message with your full name and service address?

To send a direct message:

  • Make sure you are signed in here in the Xfinity Forum. Click "Sign In" if necessary
  • Click the "Direct Message" icon (square chat icon in the upper right corner of your screen next to the bell icon)
  • Click the "New message" (pencil and paper) icon
  • Type "Xfinity Support" in the "To:" line and select "Xfinity Support" from the drop-down list which appears. The "Xfinity Support" graphic replaces the "To:" line
  • Type your message in the text area near the bottom of the window
  • Press Enter to send it

@user_lbvgfw

Thanks for reaching out to us, we do apologize for any inconvenience you're having with making online payments.

If you log into your account and get the message that you're not able to make online payments, that means your online payments are restricted due to security purposes which is generally due to suspicious payment activity and or a violation of the payment terms and conditions.

https://www.xfinity.com/corporate/customers/policies/onetimepayment

If that happens, that restriction stays onto the account for six months.

 You can always try reaching out to our customer security assurance team via 1-888-565-4329 to see if they're able to do a one time courtesy removal of the restriction.
