Huge Bill after auto pay fail

Was on auto pay and for some reason a payment didn’t go through. Was unaware of this, but my services continued. Comcast never disconnected for non-pay after 60-90 days (per their policy) and allowed service to continue for over a year before interrupting for non-payment. My bill was over $2,000 at this point. Was told that there was a glitch in their system which caused services not to be interrupted within the proper timeframe and could only be offered a $300 credit and services would drop down to internet only at the lowest speed offered once bill had been brought current. Had services been interrupted when they were supposed to the payment would have been a lot more manageable. Has anyone else experienced this issue? If so, what was the end result.

Hello @user_4037ab I can definitely understand the frustration. You are always able to view your billing information by logging into our Xfinity My Account app to review your billing. It sounds like our amazing reps offered what they could to help you out. If you still need assistance please send us a DM with your full name and address to get started.

@XfinityBillie No need, just wanted to see how many other people xfinity tries to scam out of money. I can’t pay that $1,700 bill with an “understanding” or a lame excuse. The highway robbery. I get you are just doing your job, but on a personal level, this is a ridiculously bad business practice.

Let me get this straight. You did not actually cancel your Comcast service; instead, you just stopped paying the bill and expect them to stop providing the service because their policy states that they *may* terminate service for nonpayment after 60 days? In any other circumstance this would be an example of a service provider doing the customer a favor and continuing to provide the service without being paid, with the understanding that the customer will bring their bill current when they are able to do so. I'm curious why you were unable to log into your Comcast account for a year and notice that you were still being provided with service?  Comcast isn't scamming you. You never cancelled your service and you got behind on your bill. Just because Comcast *might* terminate service after 60 days for nonpayment, does not mean that they don't let people get behind on their payments. This was especially true during Covid. How could Comcast possibly know that you intended to cancel your service? I'm sure there are some legitimate cases out there of Comcast failing to communicate issues such as billing, but this isn't one of them. At some point you as the customer have to take some personal responsibility for your bills and stop expecting your service providers to read your mind. It would be exactly the same scenario if you moved out of a house and didn't cancel your electricity and the electric company kept heating the house even though you didn't pay them. It's absurd to argue that you don't owe them because they should have cut you off for nonpayment. You signed up for the service in the first place, and it is also your job to cancel your service when you no longer need it. You can't expect an electric or gas or cable company to read your mind. You should feel fortunate that they reduced the bill and just pay it,or have fun getting turned over to collections and going someplace else for your internet service.

I totally understand… I have been a costumer of Xfinity for over 2 years and someone hacked into their system and got my bank information and took out $1000 a payment was being made every month to Xfinity but then was supposedly sent back to my bank account but it was not and they turned my Internet off and said I old $800 when I paid my bill every month and refuses to turn my Internet back on… so yes I understand…, I would go to someone else for Internet, except in the area that I live they are the only Internet company that are any good.
