Have a collection removed

Good afternoon,

I was sent to collections from

Xfinity for unreturned equipment and it has very negatively affected my credit score. I had the equipment for years and when I got rid of Xfinity service, I was unaware I had to return the equipment. When I log in it says I have a payment of $460 past due from years ago (unsure what it is for). I was wondering if there was any way to pay this balance to have the collection removed from my credit report. It has very negatively affected my credit score and my only bad mark on my report and I was unaware of it. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.
