Has anyone else been charged for XFINITY terminating their contract early because you are moving to an area that XFINITY does not service?

Has anyone else been charged for XFINITY terminating their contract early because you are moving to an area that XFINITY does not service? I was charged an early termination fee of over $100, even though I spoke with reps who stated I would not be faulted because Xfinity was the one who terminated the contract. Will not ever use or recommend Xfinity again.

Good afternoon user_cfmytn. We do offer contract, and non-contract options to provide flexibility to our customers. With the contracted options, they come with a higher discount, so if customers end their service before the agreed to length of time, the termination fee is paying back the additional discount provided. Our termination fees do reduce month over month, as well, so the longer you are in an agreement, the less the termination fee becomes. We do also have the option of transferring services, or setting up at new locations. However, in a situation where the customer is unable to transfer service and disconnects before the agreed upon date that is when a termination fee would come into play. Please let me know if this helps.

@XfinityJon I tried to transfer my service to new address and Xfinity did not provide services there, so they terminated my service. I do not see how Xfinity can fault a customer for the company not being in service at a different location, that is out of the customer’s control. No other company has ever made me pay a termination fee when they do not offer services in the new area.
