Has anyone been able to apply with Xfinity for the EBB?

I keep getting error messages. I've tried calling and chatting,  and they tell me the ONLY way is the Xfinity EDD step 3 button. Is my only answer to switch providers? The EBB discount is good at all my other options,  but I'd hate to have to switch.

What are the determining factors that Comcast uses to set the actual EBB discount amount?

Great question @KeenanSR! The Emergency Broadband Benefit (EBB) is a temporary Federal Government subsidy program designed to help low-income households connect to the Internet and stay connected during the COVID-19 pandemic. This benefit provides eligible customers of participating broadband providers up to a $50/month ($75/month for Tribal lands) credit toward Internet service and leased Internet equipment for the duration of the program. It will last for as long as the Federal Government funds the program. The amount of the credit depends on the rate for the Internet service that you choose.

The EBB subsidy will never be higher than the total balance for your Xfinity Internet service and leased Xfinity Internet equipment.

You can find more information about the EBB Program here: https://www.xfinity.com/learn/internet-service/ebb

Okay, so I read through that FAQ and it doesn't really break down the details. The amount is determined by how much your Internet service costs but it doesn't say how much discount is given versus how much the Internet service cost. If my service cost less than $50 then I'm guessing the discount amount will be less than $50, and if the service costs more than $50 you should get the full $50? That's what I'd like to know.

@KeenanSR We would love to clarify this for you! If your internet service for example costs $30.00 per month, you will only get a $30.00 EBB credit each month while the program is active. If your internet service is $75.00 per month, you will get a $50.00 EBB credit each month while the program is active. Does that help?

Yes, it does, which makes me wonder why I'm only getting $40.23 off my bill for EBB. I have the X1 Saver Pro+ DP and an upgrade to Blast! Pro+ so I'm guessing my Internet service is at least $50, likely more. Could that $40 amount be a partial month pro-rate?

@KeenanSR, that is a great question! It may depend on how much the internet service is within your service package. Guys, go ahead and call 855-846-8376, Internet Essential.
It is still the automated system, but it is easier to get through to an agent now.
I have filed a complaint with FCC some time ago an attached all our discussion to it as a proof
that I am not only one, that we all have a problem with Comcast to apply for EBB.
I did not hear anything from FCC and decided to go to my local small court to get the papers to
file  a case against Comcast. It was the day before yesterday (08/11/21). Taking in consideration that
if I file and the case will develop the first question of the judge will be if I tried to call Comcast after I have
filed my response with FCC a decided to give the final call to Comcast prior to heading to the court.
The agent by the name Pablo brought my account and asked me if I tried to call before. My answer was that
it is a long story and I did it three or four times in the past. He said to me: the system shows an error, lets do it again.

We went through a lengthy procedure, I was suppose to confirm all the conditions and requirements of the program and

Pablo told me that in 48 hours I will get the approval. I started to laugh, but I have thanked him for the work he did.
It was  no doubt in my mind that it was a monkey job as it was many times in the past. I was wrong.

I got the EBB approval this time.
[Edited: "Soliciation"], MOST LIKELY YOUR EMAIL ADDRESSES, WHICH CAME FROM MY FIGHTING WITH THEM ARE ON THEIR WATCH

AND YOU WILL BE ALL APPROVED FOR THE PROGRAM. BETTER LATTER THAN NEVER. BEST WISHES. AC

Comcast 855-846-8376, Internet Essential. told me it is EBB that has to send the discount to Comcast and they do not sign any body up.

It is up to EBB to send them the approved payment.

I have another question. I'll be applying for my SSA retirement benefits soon. As an example, if I decide to start the benefits in June will I need to reimburse Comcast the $50 EBB discount for the months of June, July, and August? My benefit will be higher than the EBB discount limit and that's why I'm asking.

Thanks

@KeenanSR

You do not have to worry about reimbursing Xfinity for the credit. Just let us know when you need the benefit removed and we can cancel it. Thank you for your inquiry!
