Got scammed, Xfinity won’t make it right

Got scammed out of 500$ by people pretending to be Xfinity, 1800 number, the correct hold music and recordings, promo was to pay a year in full then 2 years with half priced bill, said they were partnering with target. These guys are good, had access to my account and paid my current month of service which showed immediately but of course bounced in a couple of weeks. Talked to fraud department and reported it with the phone numbers they called me from etc. Now bill is overdue, called customer service and they offered to take off the late fees and that’s it. All I wanted was to be credited for that month of service considering they had my info and made a payment. I’m not asking for much, already being down 500$ I thought they would take care of their customers and value their business. No apology, just dismissing that scams happen and that Xfinity would never call customers. I just want what is due considering the events that happened which is merely a month of service credited to me. Seriously considering changing service providers because I don’t feel valued or taken seriously. Xfinity make this right, I’m spending 800$ a year or so, I’m not asking for much. I just want to be respected and taken care of.

user_8mg93u Good afternoon! Thank you for reaching out to our Xfinity Community Forums Team. I can see how this would be a disappointing situation. My sincerest apologies this has been your experience. We take our customers privacy and security very serious. Some key items to be aware of in the future.

- Xfinity will never ask for payments through prepaid gift cards or unconventional payment methods.
- Official Xfinity communications will always come from verified channels.
- Our billing department numbers can always be confirmed through our official website or your account dashboard

Additionally, since you mentioned your account security, please ensure that you have set up your account protection for the future. I'm also including some links for you, in case you receive something like this in the future you will know where to check the legitimacy.

  • Enable Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) on your Xfinity account if you haven’t already.
  • Monitor Your Account Activity for any unusual activity.
  • Report Suspicious Calls directly to our dedicated security team to aid in ongoing investigations

https://internetsecurity.xfinity.com/help/alerts

Lastly, since you have some concerns with your account, I'd be happy to take a look and see what can be done to help out. Can you please send a Direct Message with your name, and service address?

Click "Sign In" if necessary
Click the "Direct Message" icon or  https://forums.xfinity.com/direct-messaging
Click the "New message" (pen and paper) icon
The "To:" line prompts you to "Type the name of a person". Instead, type "Xfinity Support" there.
As you are typing a drop-down list appears. Select "Xfinity Support" from that list.
A "Xfinity Support" graphic replaces the "To:" line.
Type your message in the text area near the bottom of the window
Press Enter to send it

If you have gotten a call claiming to be from Comcast asking you to buy gift cards or paying upfront for six months or more in exchange for 50% off your bill the FTC is well aware of this scam.  If you get a call like this you can report it to:     https://reportfraud.ftc.gov/#/
The FTC also has a great webpage on Scams.  Please check it out as well.
For Target Gift Cards:
Call 1 (800) 544-2943 and follow Target’s instructions.
Keep a copy of the Target gift card or your store receipt.
Please help to stop the spread of this kind of fraud.
Thanks!
