Got charged for a Technician service that was Xfinity's responsibility to establish wiring to apartment unit for internet connection
Hello,
I moved to a new apartment and activated my internet service with Xfinity, I followed the instructions on self install kit and tried to setup my modem-router combo equipment but no service showed up, after troubleshooting with a Technical agent on call I was told that I would need a Service Technician to come check the wiring and connection to the apartment unit. Agent said a technician was required to establish service to my new apartment and I would not be charged for the same as they had to reconnect the internet wiring to the apartment unit from outside the apartment building to the unit through the walls and connect to the outlets.
During the Technician Service visit, I was told by the Technician that he would document the issue and I wouldn't have to pay for the visit. But couple days later I see that I got charged $106.63 for the technician visit.
Note: This was a technician visit to fix the internet wires to the apartment unit and not a visit to setup internet connection/modem-router which I had done myself.
Also, I am paying for 1GBps but I am getting only 100MBps speed. The Technician said during the visit that the speed would most likely not increase as I was using my own modem router which actually supports 1.4 Gbps download speeds. Based on the recommendation I have gone ahead and ordered Xfinity modem-router and hopefully that works to support 1Gbps speed. (Not sure if it's Xfinity's way to promote its own equipment by dropping speeds for customers equipment)
Does Xfinity really offer 14 day money back guarantee if a customer is not getting the service paid for. This has been my worst experience so far as I had to spend multiple days trying to speak to customer service and chat with them to get my internet service and billing issues fixed and I am writing here as I have not seen a resolution yet.
