Got an email about raising my monthly rate by $3/mo

Got an email saying:

It's our goal to provide the fastest and most reliable Internet services to meet our customers’ current needs and to be prepared for future demands. This has required investment in our high-capacity network, which impacts our pricing. As a result, the price of your Xfinity Internet service will increase by $3, starting with your next bill.

What I don't understand is that I have a contract for a certain price - now Comcast can just change the price unilaterally? I was unaware that I could just be paying a different price this entire time.

Please, someone explain this to me...

Hello JigSays. We appreciate you visiting and posting on our Forums.

Comcast service contracts are built to lock in your package price only. All ancillary items, such as equipment rentals or taxes/fees, are subject to change during the contract agreement. Any other specialty discounts, such as discounted premium channels, run on their own discounted length of time and are also not price protected.

I can assist with reviewing your account, price rate, and agreement details. Please reach out to me via private message and include your full name and service address so I can assist you. You can click my name (ComcastJoeTru) to view my profile, and then click "Send a private message" to private message me.
