Early termination fee
I moved to a new neighborhood. Before moving i called xfinity customer care to transfer service. But just like others mentioned here , xfinity doesn’t have service in my new place. So i had no choice but to cancel upon confirmation from the customer service that i will not be charged ETF as there is noe service. But after deactivating my account they send bill with Early termination fee. Now they say u r bounded with contract. Never faced a worst customer service.
All people who wants to move but don’t have xfinity service in ur new place please stay at ur current address keep the line finish ur contract and move to ur place because thats what xfinity wants us to do.
Regret choosing xfinity.

If you are under a contract and you need to cancel service, you may be subject to an early termination fee (ETF).
If you move to a Comcast serviceable area, and transfer service, you are not charged.
If you move to a Comcast serviceable area, and do not sign up for service, then the ETF would apply.
If you move to a non-Comcast serviceable area, then the ETF does apply.
If it is an active duty military deployment, then the ETF will be waived when you send documentation.
If the account holder is deceased, the ETF will be waived upon receiving a death certificate or obituary.
If you downgrade service, then the ETF will not apply.
If you have a Double/Triple Play and remove all but one service, then the ETF will not apply.

My friend who was also in a xfinity contract and moved to my neighborhood didn’t get ETF charge. I verified that he also cancelled the contract just like me. Then why is my case different. Don’t tell me his case may be different. I have proof of everything about his contract too.

These kind of evil business practices are a result of allowing a company essentially to have a monopoly on the internet. I am dealing with collections letters 2 years later for early termination fee after moving to an area that does not offer Comcast. Do yourself a favor and if there are any other options in your area take them over Comcast. Beware Comast/xfinity also operate under different names in different parts of the company such as COX in Arizona. I switched to Verizon FIOS 5G and couldn't be happier. They offer a 10 year rate lock currently. Imagine not having to fight with your cable/internet provider when they jack up your rate yearly like Comcast. It seems too good to be true after years dealing with this evil company.
