Duped into signing up for a contract under false pretense.
When my previous internet contract was expiring, I saw that my bill would go up. I contacted Xfinity via chat to see what the best recourse would be. After chatting with 2 service reps, the second service rep said that if I agreed to the new one year contract, she would credit my account each month to offset the higher bill. I agreed. The following month, I noticed my bill was not as the rep stated. This time, I contacted Xfinity via phone. The service rep that I spoke with apologized and gave me the credit. I confirmed if I would have to go through this each month. She said no, I would not have to worry about my bill for the duration of the contract. Fast forward to today, I see my bill is again, not as stated it would be. I contacted Xfinity via chat. The service rep that I chatted with is now telling me that no such agreement exists. The information that was conveyed to me to agree to the contract initially was deceitful to get me to enter an agreement under false pretenses. Now, I'm being told that if I want to cancel my contract, I have to pay $10 for each month left in my contract period. Prior to going through the trouble of contacting the FTC, BBB, and Attorney General's office, is there another recourse? I have screenshots of the initial chat.
