Discrimination Concerns

To Whom It May Concern:

I am submitting this complaint because I believe my experience with Xfinity warrants a serious investigation into potential discrimination, gender-based bias, unequal treatment, and unprofessional conduct.

I want to be very clear: I am not saying that customer service representatives should not do their jobs or that I should receive special treatment. I am asking to be treated with the same dignity, respect, patience, and professionalism that any other customer would reasonably expect.

I began Xfinity service in April 2026 because Xfinity is required through my apartment complex. Although this was not a service arrangement I originally wanted, I decided to give Xfinity an opportunity and became a customer.

In June 2026, I noticed that my monthly bill had changed. I contacted customer service and was informed that my promotional pricing had somehow been removed from my account. The issue was corrected, and I believed the matter had been resolved.

In August 2026, I received another bill totaling $100.78. After reviewing the charges, I discovered that I was being charged for equipment that I had already returned and was no longer using. I contacted Xfinity because I wanted the charges explained and corrected.

While speaking with Mark, I attempted to explain my concerns. Rather than receiving the calm and professional assistance I expected, his voice became raised and his tone became hostile.

What concerns me most is that this does not feel like an isolated experience. I have experienced more than one interaction with male Xfinity customer service representatives in which I felt I was being spoken to disrespectfully, aggressively, or differently because I am a woman.

I recognize that I cannot personally determine another person’s intent. However, discrimination is not something that should simply be dismissed because an employee may deny intending to discriminate. Patterns of conduct, unequal treatment, gender-based hostility, and the circumstances surrounding an interaction can warrant an investigation.

I should not have to wonder whether I am being treated differently because of my gender simply because I am advocating for myself as a customer.

I am particularly concerned that when I raise legitimate concerns about my account, instead of being treated as a customer seeking assistance, I feel as though I am being treated as a problem. That is not acceptable.

I am therefore formally requesting that Xfinity investigate whether:

  • I was treated differently because I am a woman;
  • gender-based stereotypes, bias, or discriminatory attitudes influenced the representative’s conduct;
  • there is a pattern of similar treatment in my prior interactions with Xfinity;
  • my complaints or billing concerns were handled differently from how similarly situated customers would have been treated;
  • the representative violated Xfinity’s customer-service or nondiscrimination standards; and
  • any retaliation or adverse treatment occurred or could occur because I raised these concerns.

I am also requesting preservation and review of any available call recordings, interaction notes, account records, billing history, and quality-assurance documentation relating to my interactions and complaint.

Additionally, I am requesting correction of the $100.78 bill and confirmation that the equipment I returned has been properly removed from my account so that I am not charged for equipment I no longer possess or use.

I understand that an allegation of discrimination is serious. That is precisely why I am asking Xfinity to investigate rather than simply dismissing my concerns. I am not claiming that discrimination has been legally established. I am reporting conduct that I reasonably perceive as discriminatory and requesting that the company determine what occurred.

I believe I am entitled to raise concerns about my account without being yelled at, intimidated, belittled, or treated differently because I am a woman.

I am asking Xfinity for equal treatment—not special treatment.

If this matter cannot be resolved internally, I reserve the right to pursue appropriate complaints with applicable consumer-protection, regulatory, employment/civil-rights, or other governmental agencies with jurisdiction over the matter.

I sincerely hope Xfinity takes this complaint seriously. I should not have to choose between maintaining a required service and accepting treatment that makes me feel disrespected or discriminated against.

I am asking for accountability, a fair investigation, correction of my billing, and assurance that I will be treated with dignity and without discrimination going forward.
