Customer Service Rep Told Me No Promotions Are Available
I'm coming up on the end of a 2 year promotion next month. As I usually do, I called customer service to find out what promotions might be available to me. I've got Internet, TV and phone service. I spent nearly an hour on the phone with the rep. The upshot of it was that she told me that there were no promotions available to me (a customer of 25 years) unless I wanted to add mobile phone service (which I don't). She said that if I call about 5 days before my current promotion ends there might be something available, but she has no way of knowing. She also told me that the currently available promotions are only for new customers.
I've never had something like this happen before. My current pricing includes a $42 per month discount that I've had for 2 years. That $500 per year is non-trivial. I'm not looking for anything special. I'd just like to keep my cost where it is. If I could reduce the cost that would be better still, but I'll take what I can get.
In years past the rep to whom I initially talked would pass me off to the Customer Retention department and those people always had something available at their fingertips. Either that department no longer exists or customer retention isn't as important as it once was. To keep my costs under control I may need to seriously look at reducing the services that I get from Xfinity.
How have others handled this situation?
