Collections

Hello I had my account go to

collections. I contacted sunrise credit and told me most of the charges are for equipment I still have and can return. I asked for a pay for deletion off my credit and they said they cannot do that . If I go pay in the store and return equipment will comcast recall the debt so sunrise credit is obligated to

remove the debt off my credit score?

Hello @laura632 Thanks for reaching out to us. Assuming all the debt is equipment related, those charges get automatically credited once the equipment is returned. Once all the debt is cleared then we would notify any collection agency that owns the debt that it has been paid.

Thank you for your reply .. I have the equipment ready to return and pay any other fees owed asap. I was advised to get an email first sent that debt will be cleared once paid and collection agency will be informed once I return equipment.  Am I able to get this information in an official email that the debt will be cleared  once paid and the collection agency (sunrise credit) will be notified to recall the debt once paid ? I can provide receipts of the payment at the store that they give me once paid . My email is [edited: personal information] . Please let me know thank you for your help and response.

@laura632 that is a great question. The email won't be sent until the payment is made, and wanted to help get the proper expectations set up that once paid the Collections' info will be updated to "paid in full" or "satisfied". This typically updates within 48-72 hours, but may not fully update on the credit report for 30 days.

is there a reason why it’s only being marked as paid in full and not removed from the credit report if the debt is being fulfilled ? I was advised to only pay if credit sunrise is being notified to recall the debt since it has been paid off completely aka as a “pay for deletion”. Is this something I would have to then dispute with the credit bureau ?

@laura632 yes, that is something you would need to dispute with the credit bureau. I haven't been given the specifics of why it isn't fully removed, but from when opening Collection tickets for customers I've worked with asking to get removed the answer I provided earlier is all I've ever gotten.
