Chat asking for DOB, SSN and IMEI

This is not ok behavior, correct? My monthly bill for my internet jumped by $22.00 a month. I want to change plans because I was on a supposedly, "discounted plan". My chat person asked for my SSN, my DOB, and then my phone IMEI.

How can a company this big be asking its customers this information on a chat?

Is this legit when you reach an XFINITY chat and they ask for this?

I am sorry for the delay in response. Were you speaking with Xfinity Mobile? Over social media we do not currently ask for this information.

It was an Xfinity chat about my internet bill going up $22 a month. No phone and no TV.

@user_46b855 Did you access the chat by going through the Xfinity app? Did it start by going through the Xfinity Assistant page? 

I no longer work for Comcast.

By calling instead of chatting, I did not have to give out that information, and was taken care of.
