cancelled service, still getting bills

I cancelled my service in mid March, settled my account at the beginning of April after speaking with a customer service agent by phone to obtain my remaining balance, and I am still receiving bills.  Trying to actually talk to someone I can understand by phone is almost impossible.  How do I resolve this issue?
