Billing following cancellation

I put in a request to cancel my internet service on 8/22/2021. I was in here earlier this week because I got another billing for September. However m, after going through my records, I realised I was charged on 8/23/2021 anyway. I already moved and do not even use the internet anyway so why was I charged on the 23rd?

If you mean you were charged for just the day of August 23rd: you will typically continue to be billed until you return (and they have received) your equipment. I have also been told that they need 24 hours notice to cancel service. (Most services require that, not just Xfinity.) It doesn't matter if you used the service or not. (i.e. you're still charged for your normal billing cycle even on days you're home/not using it.) If you're saying that they billed you for August 23 and going forward (as in an entire Aug-Sept billing cycle) that's a different story. I'm not an Xfinity employee, so my input is based solely on my own prior experience. Hope it helps.

@rednorsk thank you for the response. However, the latter is the case and not the former. I had my own equipment and I requested the cancellation about 48 hours before

Check the date on your billing statement.  It sounds as though it was generated before your cancellation.  You most likely do not have a bill to pay, unless you were in a contract at the time you canceled, and then you might owe an early termination fee.
